Myanmar is India’s immediate neighbour and of great import for India’s Look East and Act East Policy. It’s also a country where insurgents of India’s North-eastern states have established their camps and training areas. Myanmar is under its military’s control now. The military called the last elections that Myanmar conducted as fraudulent. Notwithstanding its Supreme Court ruling out the Military’s plea, the Military has taken over the reins. The western world has condemned the act, but Myanmar military has Chinese support.
The India response needs to be pragmatic if Myanmar is to be kept out of being a as good as a Chinese province, where it compromises its sovereignty all together.
